Life at the Field

Let them Play! Here is an old blog I found from years ago. Repost.

by Sue Haynes on 01/29/11

To any Parent of a Potential Tournament Paintball Player

To all you parents of all you potential tournament paintball players.

Kids can get into a myriad of activities. They could play football, baseball, basketball and even PAINTBALL!!! Yes PAINTBALL!!! Sorry if little Johnny doesn't want to play football, but here is a reality check, Paintball is and always will be a legitimate sport for little Johnny to get into. Let go of your fantasy of having a major league football or baseball player and support your child in HIS sport of choice. I would say about 99.9 percent of kids that play a high school sport are done with that sport after high school. Who cares if they are not the star player of the high school?? No one that matters and no one will remember in two years anyway!!

Playing on a paintball team involves ALL of the same commitment, dedication and time any other sport would require. Sure it isn't as common as a boring baseball team but that is why your kid fell in love with this sport. It is fun a hell and they love to play!!! As long as your kid is doing relatively ok in school and cleaning up their room every so often and following whatever family rules you have - LET THEM PLAY!!!!

Boys, YOU also have the responsibility to yourself to stay out of trouble, keep your grades up and BE THERE FOR YOUR TEAM!!! Sorry if you want to sleep in but if you want to be a better player you have to pay your dues, nothing worth having comes easy and without sacrifice.  Corny but true!!!

I am tired of parents that get a wild hair and decide their son can't play because of some random thing they are upset at them about. They are part of a TEAM and need to practice, practice, practice. When you keep your kid from practicing with the team, it doesn't affect just them, it affects the TEAM!!! So set some rules for your kids, make them stick to it and let them enjoy the wonderful world of paintball.

Customer Service

by Sue Haynes on 06/11/10

Customer Service is a real important part of what we do here at Skyline.  It is always important to us that we take care of our customers.  While I may not completely agree with the "customer is always right" I do wholeheartedly believe that the "customer is always important".  We try to treat our customers the way we would like to be treated when we are on the other side of things.

After all these years in business one thing I have learned is that we appreciate your business and your patronage now more than ever.  After coming through the recession and the worst winter ever, it is heartening to see the field so busy and popular again.

Please know we are always here for you and you are incredibly important to us here at Skyline.  Feel free to reach out to us with any ideas, questions, concerns or kudos anytime.

Have a great Summer everyone!!

Sue's Heroes Scenario Game

by Sue Haynes on 05/17/10

Had an absolute blast with the Sue's Heroes Scenario game this past weekend.  This past weekend I was pleasantly reminded of just how awesome it is to be a part of Skyline.  The field was hopping and we were juggling scenario players, private groups and teams practicing.  It reminded me of the "old" days before the recession hit and things slowed down.  When the field is swamped like this past weekend it is such a fullfilling feeling knowing we are a part of the fun and games in peoples lives.  It is so satisfying to host the players and be a part of such a good moment in time in their everyday existence.

Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone that makes Skyline Paintball a part of their lives!!

Green, Green, Green!

by Sue Haynes on 04/07/10

Spring has Sprung at Skyline and we are working hard at going Green!

Skyline has committed to implementing policies that include recycling, buying local and just being more responsible with the footprint our business makes.

We have plans to recycle the majority of our plastic, boxes and other recyclables we use at the field.  We are committed to buying local whenever possible even outside of our business.  We want to transition our business to have as little impact as possible on our surroundings.  This is a huge undertaking as we generate a lot of trash here at the field.

We have been busy researching local businesses and will be adding new features to our packages that include cakes and other features provided by local businesses.  We are a proponent of the 3/50 Project which is a great neighborhood project to be involved with.  The 3/50 Project promotes stronger local economies through support of independent retailers and the consumers who shop with them.  More info on the 3/50 Project can be found at www.350project.net.

So we are starting small with these ideas and will be working on implementing these new procedures and ideas into our everyday policies here at the field.  If you own a local business please feel free to provide us with business cards or flyers and we will put them out for you.

Thanks for your support!!

Rogue

by Sue Haynes on 03/23/10

A huge part of what goes on here at Skyline includes Team Rogue.  We have Rogue Kids, Rogue II and Rogue.  Probably one of the most rewarding aspects of being a field owner is our involvement with these teams.  Over the years we have watched so many kids come and go.  Many times it is heartbreaking but overall it is nice to have been a good part of their lives while they were here.  I could write a book on all our Rogue adventures but having all those memories is something I treasure.  I always look forward to our next Rogue adventure and look forward to the time we can attend more events.

New Web Page

by Sue Haynes on 03/21/10

As we burst into Spring we are also updating our webpage with a fresh new look.  There is still lots of work to be done on the webpage but for now this is a good start.  Admittedly, I am not a web developer but like the flexibility of updating and changing our webpage at my whim.  Let me know if you have any problems or have any ideas or suggestions.
